My Favorite Films of the Last Decade #13

Dignam: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let’s say you have no idea and leave it at that, okay? No idea. Zip. None. If you had an idea of what we do, we would not be good at what we do, now would we? We would be cunts. Are you calling us cunts?

13. The Departed (2006) – Dir. Martin Scorsese

Such a great film. How could it not be? Start off with Infernal Affairs, already a great film, add Martin Scorsese directing a stellar cast, which includes Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin, Ray Winstone, and Vera Farmiga, in a simultaneously original, yet faithful, remake. Sold.

I think Bryan summed things up pretty well already. So, I’m keeping this one short and sweet, which gives you more time to go and watch The Departed… now… run… go… get to the chopper!

  1. My only disagreement is in your assessment of Infernal Affairs as a great film.
