MoviePass Review: Friends with Kids

Writer/director Jennifer Westfeldt’s directorial debut is an intriguing blend of wit and raunchy humor. The film plays like a cross between the work of Woody Allen and Judd Apatow, with subtle hints of Bridesmaids (and not just because almost half the cast of Friends with Kids also appears in Bridesmaids). It’s frank. It’s funny. And while Westfeldt plays around with traditional rom-com conventions like she wants to subvert them entirely, she winds up submitting to them in the end. Bryan’s Top Ten Movies of 2011

As is becoming tradition, I don’t complete my top ten list until a few months into the new year. This is mostly because I’m trying to see everything I missed. This list is late for that reason of course, but also because I was having my friends at Outpost Media put together a video companion (which I think came out looking sweet, many thanks to them).
