If I Were King of the Oscars… 2012

It’s time for my nominations! Hopefully, you’ve had a look at my top ten already. Now, it’s time for my favorites in every other category. I posted this last year, so even though the Oscars are long gone, I’m doing it again.  As usual, some of these the Academy got right, others not so much. Here is what my personal ballot for 2011 would look like. A lot of the same movies pop up, but I assure you, I honestly thought about what was best in each category. I didn’t just fill it out with my top 5 films, trust me.

Let the list making begin! As you might remember from my inaugural list, we here at Shooting the Script do not receive screeners or invites to advanced screenings. Therefore, our top 10 films of the year list doesn’t usually hit until March, once we’ve caught up with everything.

So, here are my favorite movie posters of the year instead. Once again, these are for films released in 2011 so The Dark Knight Rises will have to wait until next year. Quality of film matters not… just design. Here…we…go.

Super Soldier – “Captain America: The First Avenger” Review

Chris Evans has done it. He finally won me over. Now he is starring in his very own summer-comic-book-blockbuster and it’s a blast. Thankfully for the uninitiated, like me, Captain America: The First Avenger doesn’t have any prerequisites. Fans and non-fans alike will find themselves cheering on this hero.

Flush Eyes Immediately – “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” Review

It’s 4th of July weekend . . . America’s birthday . . . logic would dictate that this is the perfect weekend to release Captain America: The First Avenger . . . but here in La-La-Land, where fantasy abounds, there’s little use for logic. In fact, there seems to be a detritus of logic over at Paramount Pictures. Instead of releasing the highly anticipated comic book movie about the first, and most patriotic, Avenger, they dropped a deuce . . . in the form of a third Transformers movie. That’s right, it’s Transformers: The Search for More Money . . . er . . . I mean . . . Dark of the Moon . . . yeah, that’s the ticket. And guess what, I hated it.
