Bryan’s 2012 Awards

1134604 - Zero Dark Thirty

This is the final look back at 2012. I’ve already gone over my top ten movies, my top ten trailers, and my top 20 posters. Now I’m handing out my awards and nominations Academy Award style. Continue reading

Bryan’s Top Ten Movies of 2012

TheCabinintheWoods-2

One of these years I’ll have my top ten list done before spring, but this is not that year. I put together another video for my list this year. So you can watch my list, read it, or both. As usual, I don’t include documentaries and I try to only include films theatrically released during the previous year. Enjoy! Continue reading

Bryan’s 10 Most Anticipated Films – 2013

star-trek-into-darkness-benedict-cumberbatch

I like treks and robots fighting monsters and steel men as much as the next guy. But when it comes to making this list, I want to see other things a tad bit more. There’s a lot to look forward to but if you told me I could only see 10 new films this year, well the following would be my picks. Continue reading

Top 10 Trailers – 2012

MichaelFassbender_Prometheus

Honestly, not a great year for trailers. A lot of the big blockbusters phoned it in or continued to overuse what Inception started. Meanwhile, a lot of smaller films were trying so hard not to showcase their strangeness that the trailers pulled their punches. And a whole lot of trailers were just okay. No matter, I still found 10 I thought were best. Continue reading

This is my third year making this list, so maybe some of you have actually been looking forward to it. No? Well, I made it anyways.

The usual reminder, my top ten list won’t drop until much later as I try to be thorough. Also, this list is for 2012 films and the film quality is of no import. I’m just interested in something I’d be willing to hang on my wall. Onward!  Continue reading

2012 Fall Preview: 16 That Got Away

It’s that time again. Time to publicly chime in on Bryan’s list of fall releases he can’t wait to see, and to remind him when the Autumnal Equinox and Winter Solstice fall–September 22nd and December 21st, respectively. It’s also time for me to offer my own list of fall releases I’m interested in seeing. Continue reading

This is what I call the super obvious section. Continue reading

2012 Fall Preview: 25 Films I Can’t Wait to See #10-6

2012 Fall Preview: 25 Films I Can’t Wait to See #15-11

I know this list has been a little foreign/indie heavy so far. What can I say? I don’t understand the appeal of Les Miserables. I promise the rest of my list is (slightly) more populist. Here are the next five. Continue reading

2012 Fall Preview: 25 Films I Can’t Wait to See #20-16

The countdown continues, here are 5 more films to lookout for. Continue reading

If you missed part one, you can take a look at it here. Otherwise, let’s dive back into the list. Continue reading

2012 Fall Preview: 25 Films I Can’t Wait to See #25-21

The summer movie season is over. It’s time to look forward to the rest of the year. The Venice film festival will be underway soon and more will follow. Popcorn flicks are about to give way to more prestigious offerings. Continue reading

Second Best – My Favorite Sophomore Films: Part 1

I’ve been working on this list since The Avengers came out and it is finally complete.  (Shut up, I’m busy damn it! It’s done isn’t it?) Anyways, as I noted at the time, the year’s biggest film was also the second feature film Joss Whedon directed. Sure, he’d directed plenty of TV, and a web series, but other than Serenity, not another feature until the massive superhero team-up. So I got to thinking about all the other great sophomore efforts in film history and created this list. Continue reading

Rebooting Batman – Hypothetical Casting

There are going to be more Batman films; that’s a given. While it seems weird bringing up the subject so soon after the conclusion of Christopher Nolan’s stunning trilogy, in a year, maybe two, audiences are going to be hankering for some serious Bat-action. If the release of The Amazing Spider-Man and next year’s Man of Steel tell us anything, it’s that the masses don’t care about reboots. They want superheroes on-screen as long as filmmakers can offer the goods. But, where do we go from here? The answer: anywhere. Continue reading

Batman’s Best – Top 10 Moments from Bat-films

Since 1989, the “B” in blockbuster stands for Batman. There have been total misses in terms of the completed films, but there are wonderful moments that stick with you forever: moments you reenact at parties, use as code in conversation with friends, quote when you play Batman with little kids. Batman is in each and every one of us movie lovers. Let’s look back on some of Batman’s best moments. Continue reading
