Only two wide releases this weekend . . . one traditional, light-hearted romantic comedy and one about a bad-ass, hammer-throwing god of thunder . . . guess which one I want to see.
Something Borrowed stars Ginnifer Goodwin, Kate Hudson, and John Krasinski, and it looks like every other romantic comedy about a woman who finds Mr. Right at the wrong time, e.g., My Best Friend’s Wedding, The Wedding Planner, The Wedding Date . . . you get the idea, it’s just another “meeting the man of my dreams . . . and then meeting his beautiful wife . . . isn’t it ironic . . . don’t ya think . . .” What’s more ironic is title, considering how many other films have almost the exact same premise. Still, it’s got John Krasinski, so I’m not completely opposed to seeing it.
Then there’s Thor . . . do I really need to explain why I want to see this movie? Norse god of thunder as a superhero . . . directed by Kenneth Branagh . . . Anthony Hopkins plays Odin . . . and Natalie Portman is in it . . . yes, please. My money’s on Thor this weekend.
